Listing and product templates
Image strategy, query cost, variant UX and the JavaScript that blocks interaction on PDPs.
Store speed
Category, product and checkout templates are where Magento and Shopify stores get heavy. We work on TTFB, render path, app scripts and Core Web Vitals because they change both conversion and crawl efficiency — not because a score looks tidy.
Fit
Minify-and-hope tools do not fix N+1 listing queries, uncached ESI holes, or three review widgets on a product page. We start with what the template is actually doing.
A fast homepage with a 12-second checkout is not a fast store. We measure the templates revenue depends on.
Image strategy, query cost, variant UX and the JavaScript that blocks interaction on PDPs.
Payment widgets, tag managers and theme scripts that make the last step feel unsafe.
Apps, pixels and chat tools ranked by value versus milliseconds.
Magento FPC/Varnish/Redis and Shopify’s constraints treated as architecture, not folklore.
Section 01
LCP on a product page is usually the primary image. INP suffers when variant pickers and apps compete. CLS appears when promotional banners and late fonts shove the buy box. Field data from Search Console and CrUX matters more than a single Lighthouse run on a cached homepage.
Section 02
The Magento-specific version of this work is also described in our notes on practical Magento 2 performance. Sitewide, non-store performance (marketing sites, Next.js apps) lives on the performance optimization service.
Slow pages waste crawl budget, increase bounce on mobile, and fail Core Web Vitals thresholds that Google uses as quality signals. On ecommerce sites, performance also changes conversion: shoppers abandon heavy category and checkout templates. Speed work is both an SEO and a revenue task.
Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift describe whether the main content appears promptly, whether the page responds quickly, and whether the layout jumps while loading. On stores, LCP is often a product image or hero; INP suffers from heavy JavaScript; CLS comes from late-loading banners and fonts.
Yes. A large share of Magento work is not a rebuild. We audit modules, theme overrides, checkout customizations, indexers and third-party extensions, then decide what to patch, replace or isolate. Upgrades, performance work and SEO repairs are often more valuable than starting over.
If the platform still fits, the catalog is sound and the problems are concentrated in theme weight, a few modules or content structure, a targeted fix is cheaper than a rebuild. Rebuilds are justified when the architecture cannot meet SEO, performance or operating requirements even after cleanup.
